December 2018 Lineup: Saving the Best (Pictures) For Last...Plus: XMAS Specials!

Season 2 is coming to a close with as hosts Serg Beret and Patrick Raissi take a month-long look at Best Picture winners before our season finale on this year’s Best Picture Winner, “The Shape of Water.”

We close with the first Big 5 winner “It Happened One Night” for our Criterion of the Month and the 30th anniversary of “Rain Man. Then, in our final Revisited of the season, we cover “Rocky” to see the franchises humble beginnings. Plus, TWO specials on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day celebrating the 25th anniversary of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and the 30th Anniversary of “Die Hard” respectively.

Finally, we end with the Top Ten Films of Season 2 in which the host pick their favorites from this year out of the films they had never seen before the podcast.


EP. 112: Criterion of the Month - “It happened one night”

The hosts embark on a screwball adventure with Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert in “It Happened One Night” for their Criterion of the Month. EP. 113: “Rain Man” - 30th anniversary

Host Serg Beret watches “Rain Man” for the first time to talk about the terrific chemistry between Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise in the 1988 classic. Patrick and Beret also discuss the films handling of autism and their personal stories about friends and family with autism. (Dec. 14)

EP. 114: Revisited - “Rocky”

In the final Revisited, the hosts take on the classic “Rocky” as they discuss the film’s humble beginnings and the franchise that came after. Listen as they give a retrospective of the film series including Clubber Lang, montages, Ivan Drago, the “Creed” series. Yes,we also talk about that f***in’ robot in “Rocky IV.” (Dec. 21)


EP. 115: Season finale - “The shape of water”

Season 2 ends with the first science-fiction (!) film to win the Best Picture Oscar. Listen as the two host gush about Guillermo Del Toro as a director, the tribute to monsters and musicals and how this film finally gave sci-fi the recognition it deserves. (Dec. 26)

We said before we would not do it, but for a Christmas gift from us to you, Serg, Patrick and Matthew celebrate the 30th anniversary of the (Arguably) greatest Christmas movie ever, “Die Hard.” Listen as we ring in the holiday with Nakatomi Plaza blowing up, glass shooting, Alan Rickman’s marvelous voice and what makes this movie a Christmas classic.
